Application Forms & Visa Information

When applying for visa, kindly use the correct Application form in A4 size.

    The following nationals must submit their own application form with the additional application form mentioned above.

FOR ALL APPLICANTS

  1. Passport should be valid for a minimum of Six months on the date of application and beyond the period for which visa is being sought with at least two blank pages. It is advisable to have passport validity of 6 months when landing at any port in India.
  2. If any application form has any blank spaces or not written very clearly, may not be processed. The following required documents such as: School of Admission letter, Working Contract and Bank Statement must be submitted only in original copy. Scanned copies such as PDF formats are not acceptable.

    Other documents that are not mentioned above, scanned PDF formats are acceptable only for emergency purposes and it must be supported with cover e-mail for its genuine documentation.
  3. Visa is not given beyond the period for which the passport is valid. For example, if passport is valid until Oct. 30, 2010 and an applicant applies for 1-year visa on Dec. 31, 2009, the applicant will not be issued 1-year visa as the passport expires before the 1-year visa period.
  4. ANY NATIONAL HOLDING TOURIST VISA WITH MULTIPLE ENTRIES, there should be a gap of at least two months between last exit and next entry to India.

    Any applicant applying for fresh tourist visa, who after initial entry into India plan to visit another country (i.e. Nepal, Sri Lanka) and re-enter India before finally exiting, could be permitted more than one entry (up to 3 times, must be utilized within 60 days), as the case may, be subject to their submission of the ticket bookings and a detailed itinerary, and Y1400 besides normal tourist visa fees.

    To those applicants who are currently holding a valid Tourist visa and would like to enter again within two (2) months form the last exit from India, you may please approach the Embassy of India, Tokyo Japan, to obtain the special re-entry permission. India Visa Application Center will no longer accept the application for special re-entry permission except to those who will only apply a Tourist Visa together with double re-entry permission.

    A special Re-entry permission is only given in emergency cases if applicant can satisfy the Embassy with proof of emergency and carries necessary documents like confirmed itinerary etc. If permission granted, applicant will have to pay Y1400 to Embassy.

  5. Any person holding any kind of visa which is valid for more than 180 days and if the person intends to stay in India for more than Six months, the person must register with FRRO (Foreigner Regional Registration Office) or nearest Police within 14 days of landing in India
  6. Visa is valid from the date of issue and not from date of landing
  7. All Japanese applicants and travel agents should apply for visas in their respective jurisdiction, as much as possible. (For e.g. Tokyo jurisdiction applicants should apply for visas in Tokyo and Osaka jurisdiction applicants in Osaka, as much as possible). Please refer to Consular Jurisdiction.
